The engine of the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible is a 90 degree V8 of 4,691 cm3, which can generate 444 HP at 7,000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 376 lb/ft at 4,750 rpm. Like all Maserati engines, it has been designed to deliver high specific power, smooth response and low emissions with maximum fuel efficiency.
The six-speed ZF fully automatic gearbox with hydraulic torque converter provides extremely smooth gear shifts, improving the ride without diminishing the responsive and powerful V8 engine. There are four operating modes: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Auto I.C.E. and Manual. In Manual mode, the gears are selected directly by the driver in sequence, using the gear lever or the steering wheel-mounted paddles.
The Maserati GranTurismo Convertible is designed to have near-ideal weight distribution, with a slightly greater load over the rear axle: 49% at the front and 51% at the rear with the top up; 48% at the front and 52% at the rear with the top down. This setting—obtained by moving the engine behind the front axle—maximizes traction and further improves the car’s predictable handling and stability.
The most distinctive feature of the GranTurismo Convertible is its fabric soft-top, a highly sophisticated design that’s stylistically in keeping with Maserati tradition. Its construction and operation are technologically advanced—thanks to carefully selected materials, the soft-top and its operating system have no significant impact on the weight and handling dynamics of the car, despite the large area it covers and whether the top is up or down.
The standard Chrome Line version of the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible features a number of chrome-plated details that enhance the lines and luminosity of the exterior. The exquisite unbroken line that defines the edge of the interior and incorporates the third brake light at the rear is accentuated in chrome, framing this stylistic masterpiece, which features chrome accents on the door handles and radiator grille.
With the top raised, the classic C-pillar of the GranTurismo coupe—a signature of the design—is recreated by the elegant forward-sloping arc of the soft top on the GranTurismo Convertible. At the rear of the car, the triangular light assemblies comprising 96 LED lights and the optional large aerodynamic diffuser further emphasize its dynamic shape, enhanced by the 20-inch rims that recall the Maserati logo.
At the center of the dashboard, the screen of the Maserati Multimedia System is placed high up for improved visibility. The attention to detail is also obvious in many other features: the thin chrome-plated ring around the dashboard and steering wheel buttons, the Trident logo hand-embossed on the seat headrests, the Alcantara® finish on the rear of the gearshift paddles and the exquisite stitching on the front and rear armrests.
The climate control system has been fine-tuned to help offer maximum environmental comfort whether the top is up or down; the system recognizes how the car is being used and automatically adjusts air output to maintain the temperature settings. Comfort level is also enhanced by the canvas soft top, composed of three layers for maximum thermal insulation and excellent soundproofing.
A central console that creates a comfortable space for all four occupants divides the interior longitudinally. The horizontal band of the dashboard features an ornamental “V” motif, a Maserati signature. The controls are within reach, giving the driver a sense of complete control. All critical functions are controlled from the driver’s side, with key multimedia commands replicated on the steering wheel.
The tradition of hand craftsmanship that gives form and substance to the GranTurismo Convertible is nowhere more apparent than in the interior. Here, exquisite materials lend a look, feel and even aroma second to none. The interior is richly upholstered in fine Italian Premium leather, while a choice of trim—including various types of fine wood for the decorative features of the dashboard, the door and rear side panels—makes every interior a very special place.

The car’s already excellent handling is monitored by the Maserati Stability Program electronic stability control system, which addresses side-skidding by reducing the engine torque. Incorporating the ABS and EBD, the system also prevents wheel lock during braking, while minimizing wheel spin during acceleration and locking of the drive wheels during down-shifts on low-grip road surfaces.
The car is equipped as standard with aluminium gas dampers and the Skyhook electronic system for automatic, continuous control of damper response. This solution instantly adapts the car’s setup to the driving style and road conditions, for the greatest possible comfort. In Sport mode, the suspension has a more rigid setting to reduce roll angles.
